Ballet Barre Stretch & Strength
This is the perfect barre workout for beginners as well as advanced dancers. Finis Jhung first shows and explains each exercise in detail: he tells you why it's important, breaks it down count-by-count, and shows you how to do it. The exercise is then demonstrated by Melissa Elstein, first to one side, then the other, and then repeated entirely. All the while, Finis is on camera making pointers and coaching. The barre progresses and advances slowly and methodically, gradually increasing in intensity, speed and range of movement. This is a comprehensive work-out for the entire body (and mind): beginners will learn the essential ideas of the ballet movement process while advanced dancers will be reminded of the often-neglected basics that make the difference. Welcome to the Finis Jhung Ballet Technique!

“I wanted to let you know that 4 of my students were chosen to dance with the Moscow Ballet Company when they performed The Nutcracker in Gillette, WY. The master ballet director, Olga, chose my students out of hundreds of children who auditioned because of their technique. Their technique is outstanding because I teach them what I have learned from you in your videos. The ‘how and the why’ makes all the difference in the world. Thank you again for sharing your ‘pearls of wisdom’ so we are better ballet instructors for our students. You are so gracious in your corrections. The words you choose and your tone of voice are very soothing and uplifting to the student— ‘you are the student, I know you can do this, and I’m going to show you how.’ I love way you break the movement into physics. I can correct someone, let them practice, and before they go home they have conquered their biggest fear such as turns. They get it!”

"This is the perfect DVD for all of us who like to practice at home. It teaches you how to use proper turnout and how to plié with strength and purpose. There are exercises that challenge your balance and really make you work your feet properly. I feel good doing these exercises!"
— Sooji Pak, New York, NY
"Today was the first chance I've had to work the new ballet barre stretch and strength exercises and I wanted to thank you for making this kind of class so accessible. It was challenging yet enjoyable, with plenty to think about and at the end, I felt well prepared for more dancing. I actually think it is a good barre for a seniors character class and goes well with the Basic Ballet Movement Skills series. Kind of like a ready made course if someone was looking for such a thing." — Judith Chestnut, NSW, Australia
